After several years of issues the future looks bright
A false narrative is a distorted or misleading storyline presented as truth.
It often takes partial truths, rumors, or isolated facts and weaves them into a neat, compelling story to manipulate public opinion, justify actions, or make sense of complex events.
Here is the first prime example of false narrative disproven by facts …...https://www.tcpalm.com/story/opinion/columnists/laurence-reisman/2025/10/08/indian-river-county-mosquito-leaders-swat-in-wrong-direction/86546771007/

Voters read the headlines and read what they believe is factual news. That is not always the case as you will see here if you follow up by watching the actual meeting videos. There are many between December and June 2026.
** Craig Mac Coy’s reason for campaigning is based on a false Narrative unfortunatly he obtained his information devoid of facts. Watch the meeting videos…..
** “As seen in the news recently a sitting commissioner resigned and filed ethics complaints vs the remaining commissioners , Leaving only two commissioners 2 vote on and control such a large budget from taxpayer money. While they had the benefit of a 2 vote board they fired an award winning Executive director for no cause. Then they hired a new director at a higher salary than the former. on top of that they approved a large relocation allowance upwards of $10,000.00 . with the uncertainty of what our state government votes on the property tax bill this will directly affect our budget for next year and the years to come. I want to work hard to get us on track to be successful in our mission for years to come.”

MOSQUITO CONTROL DISTRICT HAS TURNED THE CORNER AFTER A DARK TWO YEARS.
FROM AUGUST 2025 TO APRIL 2026 THERE WERE SOME CONTENTIOUS MOMENTS AS THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTORS “NO CANCEL 5 YEAR CONTRACT” EXPIRED. HERE IS A BRIEF SYNOPSIS OF THE SIGNIFICANT ACTIONS:
The Executive Directors 5 year contract from 2020 to 2025 was not renewed but that director was offered a revised contract which was “hammered out over several months using both the district’s attorney of record and a prominent labor attorney. The upshot was that the director refused the new contract and the salary offered. The board members offered to extend the deadline by a month to continue negotiations but in the end it was to no avail.
One of the three commissioners who lobbied for the director opposed all actions and even filed an ethics complaint (with the state) against his own board.(That complaint was perfunctorily dismissed by the state). He failed to be present at meetings and the situation became untenable. Fortunately both attornies were present for that whole process. By April the director was gone as was the commissioner (who actually had moved to Texas in late December but failed to resign).
The remaining two commissioners working with attorneys and staff formed a professional search committee and after receiving over 40 applications narrowed the selection to 12 and then 3 candidates. This was accomplished without a paid search firm.
By May the district reached a 2 year contract with an extremely qualified scientist/manager for approximately what the previous director was earning (plus moving expenses).
Fast forward to July 1 and the district is back on track to achieve the kind of performance that existed when Doug Carlson and John Beilder were directors.
Most news reports over this last year were inaccurate and contained many many false narratives from hearsay, not facts and not from actual meeting videos which are available.
Now it doesn’t matter, the new Executive Directer is smart, qualified and actionable. Significant actions have already been taken and more will be coming.
Stay tuned and follow the districts web site.
